Patti Hoff
Patti Hoff started her career in public health community revitalization over 14 years ago living in sub-Saharan Africa working with families affected by HIV/AIDS. Her responsibilities included managing large scale humanitarian projects in cities and villages across eight countries from Zambia to Madagascar.
Upon returning to the United States and eventually settling in Boston, MA in 2005, she started her own health and fitness nonprofit initiative, Move It Nation, Inc., which implemented an obesity prevention curriculum in over 25 schools and community centers in the metro Boston area. She has also managed community enriching programs for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation - an affiliate of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.
As a published author specializing in health and wellness, she created a national physical education curriculum for women in response to the growing numbers of women in the Flatbush community suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. This 5-credit course was endorsed by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and is currently taught in their continuing education curriculum. As she works towards attaining her doctorate degree in public health policy at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, she spends her summers in Westchester county as an adjunct lecturer at Westchester Community College.
Patti brings to the BID her proven ability to create, implement and manage community outreach programs on a local and international basis and a passion for the neighborhood she calls home. A native to the Flatbush Junction area, her family have been residents of the Flatbush Junction community for over 30 years. Enriching and strengthening communities economically, professionally and physically are among her greatest sources of fulfillment.
